- The people of Singapore realised that an Asian race such as the
Japanese could be superior to the western power. After the war,
the peoples of Asia fought to get rid of their colonial masters and
to rule their countries themselves.
- Singaporeans must never depend on a foreign nation to defend our
country. The defence of Singapore should be the responsibility of every Singaporean
